I'm pleased to report that the board has begun studying possible heath code ordinance amendements and increased fines that will deter tenants and landlords from going into the illegal restaurant business.
Who would have ever thought we'd be dealing with this kind of thing?

Good! Might I suggest that similar action be taken regarding the operation of unlicensed daycare facilities and barber shops/hair salons? They are also businesses that are subject to regulation, licensing and routine inspections, and that are commonly found operating outside of the law in towns with significant illegal alien populations.

Marc and Fed Up, I think you guys are way too harsh. I am sure that all of these businesses are being run by honest, hard working people who only want to feed their families. The have been marginalized and disrespected from the day they stepped foot in town. So what if they bend a few rules, don't we all? I am sure that we could all do the same things and get away with it too. Remember, these illegal aliens provides services and do jobs that we will not. Are they not more of an asset than a burden? So what if a whole class and culture developes without adhering to our laws and rules. There are double standards everywhere, why not here? ;D Maybe the three of us can get together and start our own underground business. Forget the zoning and taxes, forget the safety and licencing. Those are all just little, pesky details.
