I have tried to read over some of the posts made during my enforced exile and its obvious the issue of Mr. Reyes is dominating debate here. Now I admit I am a bit groggy from studying for an exam -- but it is unclear to me how Reyes was selected for such sharp scrutiny. I have never seen any other appointment so hotly debated. Why do you all think he is an illegal immigrant? Is it because of his Hispanic surname? Is there something I am missing here? Would someone with a surname of Smith, Miller or Wilson attract such attention. But, even if we get past that issue, how would you bring up the subject? "Good afternoon Mr. Reyes -- my it has been unusually warm for the fall. Was it that warm inside the car trunk when you were illegally smuggled over the US border?" Even if you asked him the question straight up what would you expect him to say? I would be willing to bet my bicycle that he will answer that he is here legally. Then what? There is no way for any of you to determine whether he is telling the truth or not. Casually Illegal
