Former Colonial Kerry Little received the Rowan University Athletic Director's Scholar Athlete Award at the college's season-ending banquet honoring its outstanding athletes of the 2006-07 year. Little, a graduate of Freehold Borough High School, is a starter on the women's soccer team. The sophomore is majoring in biological sciences and has a 3.91 grade point average. It's the second straight year she has received the award that goes to the male and female athletes with the highest GPA.
Also receiving an award was Freehold's Katherine Rowland, a goalie on the women's field hockey team. Rowland was honored with the Rowan Prof Award that goes to the male and female athletes who exemplify the meaning of the Rowan traditions of responsibility, ownership, winning, accountability and no excuses. Rowland, a senior, is a graduate of St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel.
