As is typical of the stellar reporting found in the APP </snark>, this article has several inaccuracies. I'm only posting it because it is time sensitive (and no-one else has posted it). DUE OCT. 31 Entries sought for restoration awards Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 10/11/07

just a reminder, here is an article from this week's NT: Nominees sought for home honors FREEHOLD - The Freehold Historical Preservation Commission has announced it is now accepting nominations for two awards to be presented during Freehold Borough's fifth annual Restoration and Preservation Awards event scheduled to be held in November. The first award, the Preservationist Award, is presented to that Freehold Borough house or structure that has consistently and accurately been preserved throughout the years and has always maintained a high level of historical accuracy and integrity. The award reflects the structure's continuum, through successive occupancies and the respectful changes and alterations that have been made. The second award, the Restoration Award, honors that Freehold Borough house or structure that has recently been restored to its most significant time in its history using integrity and historical accuracy. Routine maintenance, such as painting or re-roofing, is not considered as restoration work for the purpose of the award. According to a press release, the two awards look to shine a positive light on those Freehold Borough homes, buildings and structures that are unique and important in their historical status. Members of the Freehold Historical Preservation Commission will vote on the applications and the award will then be announced sometime in November with award winners scheduled to receive special plaques that can be hung outside their front doors. The plaques will be presented to the winners by Mayor Michael Wilson at a Borough Council meeting. "The commission is very excited about having the public participate in the awards process by nominating their favorite homes for this year's award," said Mark Skesavage, a member of the Freehold Historical Preservation Commission. In order to nominate a house or structure, individuals can send a nomination with their name and address; the address of the chosen structure; whether the structure is being nominated for "restoration" or "preservation" and the reason why the structure is being nominated. All nominations can be e-mailed to FreeholdHistorical@hotmail.com or sent via regular mail to the Freehold Historical Preservation Commission, 106 Broad Street, Freehold 07728. Nominations must be received by Oct. 31. newstranscript.gmnews.com/news/2007/1017/Front_Page/062.html

I was on the HPAC until earlier this year, and was part of selection process for previous awards. The first time these awards (formerly the "Ira Tilton Awards") were handed out was in early 2005, the second was in the spring of 2006.

With you and Wayne gone, things will get out of hand. LOL!!!!
Oh well...Steven just gave the award some additional tenure and credibility. Let's just hope no one asks him who won the award prior to 2005!
No chance in tracking down Ira Tilton for help.
