From Harvard Law School
Samuel S. Sagotsky '32 of Freehold, N.J., died June 1, 2004. A solo practitioner, he specialized in municipal law in Freehold. He was a municipal judge for the Borough of Freehold and served as attorney for the Borough of Roosevelt and for Colts Neck Township's Board of Adjustment.
Sam was 95 when he died. The new Freehold Borough tradition of our residents reading the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, was his idea and is dedicated to his memory. In 2005, the first year of the reading, Sam's widow presided.

He was also one heck of a Judge for the Borough of Freehold in the late 70's and early 80's. It was common for him to sentence a loiterer to 90 days in MCCI. Loitering on the street consisted of "hanging out" serving no legitimate purpose and/or failing to move when ordered to do so by the police. If Judge Sagotsgy were on the bench now, the streets would be empty and MCCI busting at the seams. RIP Judge
