Catherine Davis Caldwell
Mrs. Caldwell, 59, of Freehold, died Dec. 25 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was a longtime resident of Institute Street. Mrs. Caldwell was employed at several area schools and colleges, including DeVry Technical Institute, Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, and Georgian Court College, Lakewood, where she retired from her position in alumni affairs in 1993.
She was a member of the Monmouth County Republican Committee and ran for Freehold Borough Council in 1991. She also was a member of the Freehold NAACP, the New Jersey Black Republicans, and the Shore Christian Center, Allenwood.
Mrs. Caldwell is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and William Major of Howell; a son, Richard K. Caldwell Jr., and his partner, Alexa Lugo, of Howell; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard H. Davis Jr. and Raina Davis; five grandchildren; a nephew; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services were held at the Shore Christian Center. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
