Helen Thompson offers many memories growing up in diverse and blue collar Freehold Borough. In his later years, Helen was very close to our former Borough Historian, Ira Tilton, who passed away at the ripe old age of 99, I believe.
After Ira passed, Helen and several other close friends searched his home for a video taped interview Ira did for Comcast Cable. In the video, Ira spends about an hour talking about a Freehold with horse drawn buggies, as well as people and places that have long passed into our history.
Sadly, the video was never found and Comcast believes that their own copies were mistakenly recorded over. If anyone knows of a surviving copy of Ira's interview (it aired on Comcast around 1996 or 1997). Maybe someone might have taped it?
This would be a treasure for our Library archives. Please let us know. Thank you.
