For those of you who don't know, here in town we have a wonderful group of folks who started up the Freehold Borough Education Foundation several years back. Here's their website... www.fbef.org/Index.htmlThis group, as you'll see on the website, was founded for the purpose of rewarding grants to several teachers each year for various types of technology, art, or other projects. To date, the Foundation has awarded over $50,000 in grants to our schools...and now we're coming into the time of year for their fund drive. I will be over at the school tomorrow night "stuffing envelopes" with letters and donation requests that go out to a number of people in town, or tied to the town, asking them to make any type of donation that the Foundation can use to continue it's tradition of helping the students in our schools. If there is anyone who is interested in making a donation, please let me know, either through this site, or you can email me at andrewdefonzo@yahoo.com and I will make sure you get a letter telling you all about the Foundation and the form to fill out for a donation. This is a wonderful group that continues to provide excellent opportunities for the students of our schools that they would otherwise not be able to participate in due to budget issues, lack of state funding...you know the story. Please, if you can help out in any way, it is greatly appreciated. Also, from time to time, I will try to keep everyone posted about events that the Foundation will be sponsoring in and around town to also try to raise some funds.

Pardon me as I switch hats...
Due to a family matter, I was not able to attend last nights Education Foundation meeting to help stuff envelopes for this years fund drive. Of course, that does not mean everyone is off the hook!! ;D
Obviously the website is still available for making donations, and of course if anyone has any questions to ask, I can certainly try to answer them, or track down an answer for you.
On another note...there was mention back a few months ago about the Foundation sponsoring some sort of cooking event in town, trying to showcase some of the chef's that might live or work here in Freehold Boro in an Iron Chef type of competition. I will be inquiring about whether or not this is still something they are considering...but in the meanwhile...
If anyone knows of someone who might be willing to participate in, or help out with such an event, contact the Foundation, or myself and let us know. Thanks.
