Senate Hearings School Dept of Edu Budget Hearing!
When ask about the Dropout Rate by one of the Senators AGAIN the commissioner did not know the statistic on the states Drop Out Rate....
The Commissioner has not plan to release the New Proposed School Funding formula till AFTER the Nov elections, so when it is presented to the NJ state legislature there will be a large number of Lame Duck Assemblymen and Senators weighing on the vote.
Davey made reference to "Wealth Equalized funding" will be part of the new funding formula.
One Senator asked that the New Funding Formula be submitted by Labor Day, so that this Formula can be a campaign issue for Nov!
Davey was questioned about the necessity of giving Abbott 3% more funding this year (every district received 3%)
Commissioner Davey would like an IT system in place that will allow the State DOE to monitor Student productively from school into their adulthood/work-careers.
The DOE will replace the current County DOE Superintendents, who report to the County Freeholders, with Executive County Superintendents, who report to the Office of the Governor.
Elizabeth (School District) was using Abbott money for TV Advertising.
The state should adopt HS testing similar to NYS Regents examinations.
