www.politicsnj.com/karcher-freeholders-need-step-help-freehold-schools "Senator Karcher said that she would continue her work with Assemblyman Panter to explore all possibilities to provide additional funding to the Freehold Borough School District, including further efforts to get the county to begin a PILOT program with the school district.
“This is only the beginning. We will continue working to do right by the children of Freehold Borough,” said Senator Karcher."Nice try, by they are barking up the wrong tree, the Money Tree in Trenton needs to be replanted and shaken vigorously! NOT One, ZERO, ZIPPO, Nadda... of the states 22 County seats collect property tax on County Property PERIOD, and this Precedent will not fly. I ask Karcher and Panter to go tell their PARTY BOSSES on Newark, Trenton, Camden to get their act's together, the problem is in Trenton NOT THE COUNTY FREEHOLDERS! Panter and Karcher are turning this into a County Dem vs Rep issue. the reality is this is a SUPPORT FOR YOUR CONSTITUENTS ISSUE!Its is Trenton that is not upholding their own constitutional obligation to provide Freehold Boro with funding that will sustain the Thorough and Efficient Education to our children! Why are Panter and Karcher not asking there fellow Dem, Assemblymen Payne to be accountable for the missing $400,000.000 from the Newark School District? Why are Panter and Karcher not asking Chairman Greenwald to prosecute the 30 Camden DOE employees who collected pay checks useing dead peoples SS#'S ? Why does New Brunswick need a $180, 000, 000.00 High School? Karcher and Panter are barking up the wrong tree, waisting critical time!!! Their failure is a calculated political stunt, an attempt to blame the "Republican" Freeholders. This is a weak attemtp to smoke and mirror the focus away from the Trenton Graft-fest, burglary, embezzlement, embezzling, misappropriation; filching, pilfering, purloining, FUNDS abduction, hijacking, shanghaiing; despoilment, despoliation, looting, pillage, plundering, rapine; poaching, rustling, smuggling; banditry, piracy..(Get the Picture!) OF DOE-Abbott money! OUR MONEY!!! WE SHOULD BE ALL OUTRAGED, YET PANTER AND KARCHER'S SOLUTION IS.....COUNTY FREEHOLDERS? ALL OF OUR REPRESENTITVES MUST SAY LOUD AND CLEAR....Stop the sinful ABBOTT waist, and GET FREEHOLD BORO FUNDED NOW!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME! :-)

This really needs to be printed out in it's entirety so as not to lose it Karcher - Freeholders Need to Step Up to Help Freehold Schools By Jim Griffin - March 29, 2007 - 4:23pm Tags: Senator Ellen Karcher, Freehold Borough, Release Date: March 29, 2007 FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – Senator Ellen Karcher today charged the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders with putting political contributors ahead of schoolchildren after the Freeholders denied her request for the county to provide payments in lieu of taxes (PILOTs) to the Freehold Borough School District to help eliminate cuts in this year’s school budget. “Assemblyman (Mike) Panter and I have written to the Board of Freeholders to request much needed assistance to the Freehold Borough schools,” said Senator Karcher, D-Monmouth and Mercer. “The County owns a considerable amount of land in Freehold on which they don’t pay taxes, and we think it’s time they started paying their fair share.” In her letter to Freeholder Director William Barham, Senator Karcher points out that the school district is facing severe cuts this year, despite increased state aid. Without additional aid, the district will be forced to cut sports and extracurricular programs and dismiss 13 employees, including two librarians, an art teacher, a music teacher, two guidance counselors, a media assistant, three clerical assistants, two custodians, and a math supervisor. Senator Karcher said that her request on behalf of Freehold Borough was denied because the county didn’t have any surplus funds in their budget to give to the school district. “The Freeholders are crying ‘poverty’ at the same time they are approving hundreds of thousands of dollars in cost overruns for the Hall of Records to be paid to politically connected contractors,” added Senator Karcher. “It’s time that Freeholder Director Barham reexamined his priorities.” Senator Karcher noted that Freehold Borough loses more than $500,000 each year in property taxes because county-owned land is tax exempt. She also noted that while the county has provided grants to the borough for items in the past, it has never compensated the school district for its loss. As part of her effort to secure more funds for the district Senator Karcher joined with about 40 members of the Save Our Schools (SOS) group today at the Assembly Budget Committee hearing to show their support for a new school funding formula that would be fairer to districts like Freehold Borough. “Freehold Borough is a model of fiscal responsibility, spending less per pupil than any other district in Monmouth County. I only wish that the Freeholders could show the same responsibility and meet their obligation to the children of Freehold,” explained Senator Karcher. Senator Karcher said that she would continue her work with Assemblyman Panter to explore all possibilities to provide additional funding to the Freehold Borough School District, including further efforts to get the county to begin a PILOT program with the school district. “This is only the beginning. We will continue working to do right by the children of Freehold Borough,” said Senator Karcher. Contact: Jim Griffin jgriffin@njleg.org 609-292-5215

Karcher and Panter had better wake up. Yes, it would be nice to get the Freeholders to help, but that is not the problem.
Take note of the news fader. The reference to Karcher cakes. This term was coined by another individual who was at the town hall meeting. When discussing ways of raising money, Karcher replied have a bake sale. The money our town needs would make the baked goods too expensive for our town. We probably could not sell the baked goods anyway due to the big brother trans fat ban. Wonder who sponsored that legislation.

Getting back to our elected leaders on a serious note. All three, Karcher, Panter and Beck had better realize that the problems our town, and many others have, come straight out of Trenton.
Our elected leaders better pay better attention to what their constituents are saying, as opposed to what their colleagues in other districts think.
Freehold Borough is a traditional Democrat stronghold, but that can change very easily.
Freehold will not burn as Trenton fiddles. We can no longer afford it. And we can not afford the Karcher cakes either.

More to come later tonight from me (heading out to dinner right now with Silence Dogood)...but for now....
Karcher and Beck had better wake up...not only are they barking up the wrong tree and making this a political, Democrats vs Republicans issue, but they are going after money that, even if the schools got every penny of the roughly $500,000 in taxes, it only counts for less than half of what our schools need to get into that "Thorough and Efficient Education" box that we've heard about time and time again.
Fiber, you're absolutely right...they need to go after their party bosses in Trenton...The Democrats have the power right now, use it to get us the funding we need, not part of it!!! And stop making this a political issue, and see it for what it really is, a issue about our children and our future...you know Ellen - our "bunnies".

WHO WHEN THERE TO SUPPORT THE THE "NEW SCHOOL FUNDING FORMULA"? THERE IS NO NEW FORMULA! THIS NEW FORMULA WILL NOT BE ANNOUNCED FOR ANOTHER 6 WEEKS.
THE ONLY FORMULA WE WENT THERE TO SUPPORT IS "WHERE IS FUNDING FOR FB"?
