The key term here (url) is "NOT LIMITED TOO", so with respect to the "Letter from Land Lord", can can ask for more, you can INSIST on more
I want the "LEASES", the letter is too loosey goosey considering the BOE's challenges!
OK heres how a conversation may go...
School...I'm sorry Senor Smith, this letter is no good, we need a LEASE!
Senor Smith..., but Mr. I have no Lease, I live on a Month to Month Verbal agreement
School...So Senor Smith, what your saying is you have no formal residency in the Boro
Senor Smith..No, No Mr. the landlord is not willing to offer me a lease, he said this letter is good
School...Sorry Senor Smith, you will need to go to the Boro Code enforcer and tell him you land Lord is not offering you a lease like he IS SUPPOSED TO! Unless your land lord is doing something Illegal, but I am sure Senor Smith, being a responsible Popi, you would NEVER allow your children to live in an Illegal rental, it's unsafe, but thats not my business any way...Please come back with the LEASE, and your little chica's can come to school GLADLY!!
Senor Smith...OK but I have this Avidavit to show you too!
School...Great, TY Senor Smith, mind it the Truant offices visits you home to check things out, once you have the LEASE for us, and we investigate your statments on the Afidavit.
Epiloge...Senor Smith ends up on in some other school district like Lakewood.
Moral....NOT LIMITED TO!!!!

You are assuming that the hispanics and possibly the landlords are deceitful. So why not bring in a phony lease, or a worthless one? They have phony driver's licenses, right? You can buy a pad of leases from the store. Big deal. Now they have a phony lease.

First I do not Assume, I presume!,
Second, OK 10-13 Million illegal Mexicans....why would anyone presume they are deceitful?

And will these bogus lease come with a bogus notary stamp?
OK, is there not some kind of Rental Property registry ID number used by the Boro that Identifies a rental property, that must appear on the lease?
Why not bleach $1.00 Bills and run them through a color laser printer as $20.00 Bills too go with the Phony SS cards, DL's etc....
Your saying there are no means workable for fraud prevention.... please stop think negative, the solution is no that complex!
The solution is "Check and Verify". If there was public knowledge that Boro Services had a strict policy of checking and verifying, we would not be bickering AT each other about this, because the problem would NOT EXIST.
So.... simple computer check by the BOE may identify that a Rental Property registry ID number was already in the system. Did family "A" move, are their kids out of the school systems?
If not, the record is flagged and an investigation will be in order!
Is there such a system in place?
NO, because the BOE needs a to spend money on a Marketing Survey, rather than working with the BORO Council , and fixing the problem it seems!
Again..."Check and Verify", how is this done today? Is this done today?

Okay, now read the rest of my post. The point was: A lease is just as easy to forge as a letter from the landlord.

Marc When I was on the Board we got several legal opinions on the requirements. The schools CAN NOT deny a student who produces the required documents. If they provide an affidavit, the person who signs the affidavit is subject to legal action if it is proven that they lied. Most people don't realize how little power the School Board has.

You definition of "required documents" seems Way different from MOST OTHER School Districts!

Both of you can it. Insulting each other serves no purpose. I have watched as both of you have posted some very good points. There is no good in baiting each other and taking the point/counterpoint into an un-necessary direction.
We all need to see solutions. Both of you have made good points. Do not undermine yourselves.

My apologies to all for being away for so long...the holidays are a time consuming part of the year...
That being said...after the insults back and forth have seemingly been put to rest, has everyone now accepted the fact that the school board is not able to demand specific pieces of documentation from potential students?? Or did we just get off on a rant and need to be reigned back in??
