If you want to attack our site and have a debate on it -- you will have to come here.
We appreciate all the publicity Marc and Mike are giving our site. However, we don't hold debates on pages either controlled by you are not moderated for crazy people.
I like the injersey site, but since they will let just about anyone say just about anything -- you will have to come home here if you want to debate me.
People -- for the fullness of this debate -- I will first post the threads posted by Mr. Rosseel and Mr. Le Vine on injersey.
What follows next -- is my response -- aimed mostly at Mr. Le Vine, who is clearly the puppeteer here.
Gentleman:
These are very strong words you hurl -- most of which are at best -- half-truths, which are worse than lies because they take shadows of truth to create entire falsehoods for a knowing and malicious purpose.
Michael -- first -- let's be honest. You are an appointee of the Democrat mayor. Thus, your position of piety and non-partisanship you represent is disingenuous. Second, you actively helped Mr. Le Vine in his failed council run last year. That is your right to work hard for democrat candidates in Freehold or elsewhere. Let us not pretend, however, that you are now anything less than part of the democrat machine against which many excellent republicans have run ably in the past.
As for the Freehold Voice -- I consider it an open forum. The site abounds with Freehold pride issues and initiatives, but it is certainly not limited to that genre. The name "Freehold Voice" should have been your first clue. You post there all the time Mr. Rosseel, so your new found disdain for the site is a bit surprising. Moreover, one of our site moderators is also a dem and an appointee of the Mayor. She regularly disagrees with the opinions expressed by me and Mr. Sullivan, but does not appear hell bound on some personal mission to take us down.
In addition, the site has numerous opposing views, including prominent democrats and dem supporters. We love having them here -- and frankly -- the mix of intelligent, thoughtful, substantive views is refreshing.
The opinions on the site are those of the people who choose to post and follow the rules. In your case Michael, we let you post even though you often break the rules because -- well -- frankly -- when some people break the rules it reflects better on us than them. It all depends on the rules one breaks. Vicious, mean-spirited, personal attacks are met with bans -- which explains why other former posters no longer post there. However, when one posts things that actually hurt the position they advocate or undermine the credibility of the person advocating it -- those posts will often stand. (we did this regularly with other people such as casual reader)
As for your gross misrepresentation of who the "site" supports -- get your facts straight. The site has no "official" view. It is the view of the posters. In the previous election -- you supported Mr. Le Vine, others did not. Were we a pro democrat site then? Mr. Le Vine, a former member of the site chose to leave because he could not control the content of the site, and like the dem machine to which he sold his soul, he could not and cannot stand honest dissent. As we know, he dumped the republican party and the PEOPLE movement when they did not serve his political agenda. As a result of Marc's transparent personal political motivations, he managed to become one of less than a handful of democrats to lose a race in Freehold in 3 decades. Those are facts, not supposition.
Now -- turning to the patently false allegation that the site supports only republicans at every level -- you either don't read the site on which you post regularly, or you have chosen to falsely misrepresent the facts. Indeed, this poster has heartily endorsed Democrat Barbara McMorrow when she ran for Freeholder, as one easy example.
The difference Mr. Rosseel between you and me is I take consistent positions based on issues. Yes, more times than not, those issues are represented by the GOP. Many times they are not represented by the GOP or the Dems. You, Mr. Rosseel, take positions based on emotional and personal response. Now, as a puppet of the machine and its disgraced former colleague, you are being used by a master manipulator to try to drive a wedge into the local republican politics. Has this even dawned on you.
You hate Mr. Miller, a man who runs the Borough GOP. I have never met Mr. Miller, and only know what I read about him. Your disdain for Mr. Miller comes, according to you, from attacks or personal slights he purportedly made about your family. Fair enough, if someone attacked my family -- and I could substantiate those attacks, I'd be angered too. (This might actually, in part, explain the conduct of another of our former and banned posters) No one has ever seen or heard these attacks but you -- if they exist, you never exposed Mr. Miller for the rest of us to judge. If I had to bet money on the source of those rumors that have you so irritated, my money would be on someone with other political motives and interests. Consider your sources sometimes -- that's my best advice to you.
Mr. Rosseel, the positions you often take lack reason, logic, or even a modicum of common sense. For example, you rant on about the "legitimacy" of the issues I and Mr. Sullivan raised. Then you attack us for raising them in the wrong forum, or based on some false notion of a personal bias with the Mayor. The questions are either legitimate, or they are not. As you have conceded, they are legitimate. We have discussed these issues ad nauseum -- and you have not refuted a single material fact as set out --- not one.
Now -- let's discuss false representation of what a "site" is and what it purports to be. You run a facebook personality called "Freehold Live." You don't disclose your name. You don't disclose your political affiliation. You don't disclose your pictures of you with Marc at democrat headquarters, or your appointment by the Mayor to a Freehold committee. You do sometimes post under your real name on the wall of the Freehold Live personality to try to pretend you are not "Freehold Live." You use the name "Freehold" to attract unsuspecting friends. Why not name it Michael Rosseel Live? You have a single rule on the Freehold Live site -- "No negative postings." You don't follow it or enforce it -- except against the people and views with whom you disagree. You have banned and vanquished legitimate posters and deleted most posts contrary to you. You do this because you are not strong enough to accept dissent. Those who use you count on this. You do this also because you want to maintain the facade of a non-partisan site. The truth, however, is that the site is highly partisan -- run by a dem appointee and following a dem agenda. Moreover, you limit dissent and eliminate selected opposing views irrespective of whether or not they have broken your only rule.
Now -- that is your facebook personality. You may do with it as you please. But -- if you are going to be in the business of putting out attacks on other sites like the Freehold Voice -- you should at least recognize that someone is going to call you out for the lie and charade that is your conduct and agenda on FB. You might want to consider calling it "Freehold Lie"
It's a shame too -- because much of what you started to do with the FB personality was great -- and I liked it very much as you know. Again, however, you found yourself manipulated by others into picking a fight with many people who have been working hard on behalf of Freehold like many in the GOP before. I wish you had sought better counsel on that.
Marc -- Marc, Marc, Marc -- please don't ever insult the Freehold GOP by invoking the names of people who you stabbed in the back for selfish political purposes. It's beneath even you. Trotting out the names of former GOP people, many of whom I worked with, grew up with, served under, and have been friends with -- and suggesting as you have that they would disapprove of the GOP -- is sad. You don't have any d**n idea what some of these people would think -- as several have passed on. Moreover, since you left that party to join the very machine against which they fought -- it is quite presumptuous for you to now think you can speak for them. Have you no decency at all?
You know what Marc -- and you should have known this was coming when you picked this fight. You are the one person who brought shame and disgrace on Freehold through your online postings on Freehold Voice. Did we ban you Marc? You put the site in the paper and the town in the cross hairs with your remarks that were -- at the time -- I thought merely ill-advised. We could have banned you, distanced ourselves from you, or ripped you and left you hanging out to dry. You were a dem serving on the council. If we were so d**n pro GOP and so d**n anti-council, why didn't we do that?
Why did I write you personally and give you my complete support in your darkest moment? Why did I publicly support and defend you? It's called loyalty -- a concept more alien to you than the truth.
According to you -- I and Brian Sullivan are just hate-mongering, right-wing, crazy people. We do nothing but attack democrats. Well, there you were, a democrat, down for the count and on the ropes. We stepped up and waged a campaign to save your butt and defend you. We did that because while we questioned your views on some issues, we thought you an honest, decent broker. Yes - you were a dem -- but we fought for you.
So -- don't you dare go around the internet lying about who I am and what I represent. And, don't you dare suggest that we are rabid, anti-democrat people. When I first found the Freehold voice and began to post -- you were a big fan, saying it was "an honor" to have me post. Now you have called me a "distant political manipulator." I guess I am not part of your agenda any more.
You Marc -- you stabbed our people in the back. I guess once you throw friends under the bus it gets easier every time. You left us on the issue of illegal immigration. You falsely attacked our site and led a propaganda campaign against it because we differed from you on the immigration issue. Moreover, you could not control the site content, and you were furious that people had the nerve to question you -- on anything. How dare some nobody question me -- a councilman! Do you really think that way? You once had the arrogance to say that it was a "privilege" to have you post on our site. No sir, it was a mistake. Still, we didn't ban you. You went to war on us and you spent all your free time spreading the seeds of discontent sowed by you and your angry band of followers. You couldn't make us conform, so you tried to attack and discredit us. It's a classic fascist tactic: If one can't win the debate, destroy the other side. I don't know what any of those other republican candidates who served with honor think -- but this one doesn't even know who this Marc Le Vine is. This soul-selling, party-jumping, organization abandoning, friend stabbing, version is not the same Marc Le Vine I once knew and vigorously defended.
We didn't leave you after you left the GOP. We didn't leave you after you left PEOPLE. We didn't leave you after you embarrassed the town and our site. You left us after you decided you had USED everything you could from us. Just like you left the GOP, PEOPLE, and the Freehold Voice.
Now Mr. Le Vine -- you are twisting the truth again, scheming, and moreover, manipulating others. And you know exactly what I am talking about. Stop taking advantage of and using Mike Rosseel. Mike may not know any better -- but you should.
When I was 19 years old, I had a great opportunity. Former Mayor Bill Boyle and other great Freehold republicans gave me a chance to run for office. I ran hard, and I lost. The issues I raised actually laid the ground-work for one of our republican victories. I worked side by side with and for a great campaign manager. He was a fighter. He was passionate. He believed in Freehold, the GOP, and strong, fair, but unrelenting dissent. He was my first political mentor. Long before I advised a presidential campaign, or worked on or was counsel to other statewide candidates, I cut my teeth under a truly great, small town GOP advocate. He fought this Wilson regime hard, but also with common sense. He, like me, worked with the dems when they made common sense. He put Freehold ahead of politics, but he was keenly aware of the politics of Freehold. I would not try to insult anyone by saying I know what my manager -- John Rosseel -- would do or say today. I know for sure -- however -- he would not have wanted this.
So Marc -- while you have been unseated. While you have been embarrassed, and while you are seemingly on the outside looking in -- in a sense you have won at least one small round in your personal political agenda. You have ripped at and torn the fabric of the GOP once again. You have slandered it to try to discredit your own political failings.
The problem is Marc, you are fighting for political power, the rest of us are fighting for Freehold. (Heck, you are still posting fantasies about running again. Which party this time? Why not run as the maverick independent you think yourself to be?)
My views on issues haven't changed. I was with the Mayor when he was opposed to illegal immigration. I wrote a great letter to the paper when he stepped up. Moreover, while you have lied about my effort to help Freehold, and my motivations, the fact is I did attempt to help this all democrat Council and Mayor at HIS invitation. When the Mayor turned his back on fighting illegal immigration, I was against him as I was originally when he helped create the muster zone. I am still against illegal immigration. I am against people claiming to be against illegal immigration but working with cooperating, and empowering the advocates of illegal immigration. I think it is bad for Freehold. I think it is bad for the country. I want vigorous, healthy, regular, legal immigration. I don't want to substitute illegal immigration for legal immigration.
The charge against me is bias. The charge is false.
No one in this debate is less "interested" than me. I am not angling to run for office again -- like Marc. I don't fantasize about running the Borough GOP like Michael. I don't want an appointment to a Board in Freehold. I have no business interest in Freehold. I have no political interest in Freehold. My house is not dropping in value. I am not being over-run by illegal aliens. My schools are not under-funded and failing. I don't have political scores to settle. My interest is in my hometown's health and my family still living there under the ill effects of an illegal invasion facilitated by local incompetence. I want life to be better in Freehold for the legal residents of Freehold -- legal immigrants, minorities, and my friends and family. That is my interest -- and because I live elsewhere, because I gain no income, fame, or advantage from my advocacy, I am the most honest broker in this debate.
Mayor Wilson is a big boy -- he can stand the heat. He may not like it. He may ignore the dissent in the papers or be stuck only in this instance with the sad defense of an open-borders' radical. But he now knows that people are watching how his deeds don't match his words. He knows that when he tells his friends he is opposed to illegal immigration -- he has to now explain to them why he appoints their advocates to boards. He knows that dissent has not been stamped out completely -- and thankfully it has not. Looking at the conduct of people like Marc Le Vine who want to control content, eliminate dissent, and wage attacks on political opposition, Freehold is much stronger a place because he does not serve. Moreover, Freehold is better for having the dissent -- even if some are not strong enough to take it.
We appreciate all the publicity Marc and Mike are giving our site. However, we don't hold debates on pages either controlled by you are not moderated for crazy people.

Freehold Internet Site, all about lies!
by Mike Rosseel on July 16th, 2010 Comment
It saddens me that in todays world, with the internet in such high use, people are using town pride sites as ways of helping themselves and others with a political agenda for advantage. A recent letter published by a local Freehold paper had two gentlemen from a local "pride" site bashing the town and specifically the mayor for something that happened three years ago. These gentlemen run a site "dedicated" to pride in Freehold and claim to be impartial. Any reader of this site can clearly discover the political theme to their site, these two have backed every Republican in Freehold, Monmouth County and the State. The question I have is, why lie? Its clear what the purpose of your site is. Its clear you have been and will continue to use your site for self-promotion and political gain for the very party you support. Why not call the site what it is, a Freehold Republican Voice Site? These two men, and a handful of followers, do nothing but use this site to start rumors and make accusations against our town officals! What makes it worse to me is the one man sits at every council meeting and NEVER says a word, yet when he is at home hiding behind a screen, he is high and mighty on his soap box.
With the state of our country, elections have never been more important then now. I hope the people of Freehold can see this site is nothing more then a rag site, built on lies and mis-information! I hope everyone researches which ever canidate they support to the fullest degree before making a decision. Sites like this do nothing but start rumors and cause doubt in peoples minds for no reason. I challenge the one Freehold resident of this site, if you have such a love for this town and so many great ideas, drop your name in for election! We know you have the time, your at every meeting, every event, do something positive besides building a site full of lies and distorted facts, have some pride in your town!
Please research which ever canidate you support! Research them based on performance, profesionalism, ideas, involvement and qualifications to make tough decisions for the best of the town -- not lies from a so called Freehold Voice.

Michael:
I must agree with all your points made. The group behind that site – basically three locals and one distant political manipulator- are responsible for hijacking the real Freehold GOP, of which your father and many other fine and respectable Boro residents once represented, with honor.
This lot has accused me of being disloyal to that party to which I once proudly also represented on the governing body. That party no longer exists and its replacement could never lick the boots of John Rosseel, Lou O’Brien, Tom Barkalow, Jeff Jones, Cathy Caldwell, Bob Swisher, Jim Wishbow, Carl Steinberg or any of the others I once worked together with. Many of these good people are now deceased and others would have no part in this laughing stock version of the real Freehold Republican Party. The party of John Dawes, Frank Gibson and Bill Boyle.
As for The Freehold Voice? It is not the PEOPLE site as they would call it. The PEOPLE site was dedicated to Freehold Borough residents opposing illegal immigration – by all legal means – and supporting the Mayor and Council in doing so. I established PEOPLE as a BiPartisab Group. Vanessa Minenna and yet another rogue version of The Freehold GOP- that no longer exists- hijacked the group and made it a very partisan Anti-Dem group with Minenna as its hate filled council candidate.
When she lost her election and left town this next group restarted the PEOPLE website as the Freehold Voice and its ONLY mission has since been to support and elect candidates from this newest GOP incarnation, which uses hatred and fear to win votes.
They were partially successful manipulating and hijacking the last election with a last minute smear campaign, but one of their own candidates – the winning one – had already quietly distanced himself from this rabble group and now purely represents the interests of Freehold Boro residenys, only, as should be. He has proven to be a mench thus far and has earned respect.
All the nasty noise in this town over the past year has been made by these four and this silly free Homestead do- it-yourself rag they call a free and open community website for the people.
Free, open and honest? A News Transcript news article that included my role in and my comments at a recent Boro Council meeting dealing with the landlord issue in town was deliberately taken out by the site administrator. Why was that?
Representing the Rental Advisory Board of the town, were my comments of no importance to our residents? But, left in were the comments of Mr. Miller, their perennial and annual GOP candidate, who serves on no Boro committees. And, why were his quotes more important or not equal in value to my own?
It’s time for Boro residents to see what is going on here and understand that the Freehold Voice and its “staff” are politically motivated and hellbent on settling old personal scores that have nothing at all to do with the welfare of our town and its residents. There is no place for this sort of thing in our town unless the people behind it come clean and tell the public the real truth and purpose of their partisan website.

Error correction: I just noticed something above that I need to clarify regarding the News Transcript article I mentioned above. The article was included on the Freehold Voice and my quotes were removed from it. I neglected to term that “censorship,” since the remainder of the article was left intact.
There is no doubt that the people that I mentioned above are only now working on some sort of rebuttal. When they respond to me and Mike Rosseel, they must know that there are many others behind what we have written and, in fact, inspired us to share it all with Freehold InJersey’s readers. And, they are not all associated with the Mayor and council. Some are embarrassed Freehold Republicans, who would like to see the current local GOP regime replaced by more honorable people.

Looks like the admin is ready to cast more lies and defnd himself as per his site today. He is ready to paint fake pictures of how he has been wrongfully made out to be something he and his site isnt. “the usual cast of characters”, as he put it, are going to be attacked because of the voice disagreement of peoples thoughts that dont match theres. The point is, Freehold is tired of your lies and false/inaccurate reporting! “the usual cast of characters” have nothing to gain, we arent running for an office or signing documents endorsing GOP canidates, were concerned for our town, NOT OUR POLITICAL AFFLIATES!
