Saw the signs on Ballew Jewelers on Main Street for their retirement sale. Sounds like one of Main Street's staples is closing.
Maybe we will get a new food market in their place...... ;D

My understanding is that "Someone" is Retiring, but the family is still operating the business. BTW, so what do you give someone who owns a Jewelry store for retirement, A gold-watch seems sooo... trivial, like sending a retired sea captain on a cruse.. I did notice that across the street, "Buy and Sell City," moved into the location where "2nd time around" was located, thus doubling their retail space.., mean time earlier this month, another "We Buy Gold" that also looks like a "schlock" shop just opened up a few doors down..., IMHO this is far from the "UPSCALE" retail that we should be seeking, this type of retail does NOT flatter any downtown. I understand that in this economy, landlords need to keep stores occupied and collecting rent, but I would hope we see better. Anyone sign up for dance lessons at Aurthur Murray yet? That looks like the beginnings of a fun, great new addition to downtown! Maybe this next season of "Dancing with the Stars" will help inspire folks to take up dance lessons..., Dancing can be a fun Aerobic workout!!! Anyway, back on topic..., lets hope that Ballew will be here for many, many more years to come!

Entrada (Translates to Entrance) Salida (Translates to Exit) and Carnicero (Translates to Butcher or Butcher shop)

A butcher shop is muy bueno!
The signs saying entrance and exit does not make sense whatsoever. Unless you're inside and one door is marked specifically for exit. Did you get inside, Fiber?

C'mon, how many times have you, or have you seen someone try to enter through the exit door, and visa-versa, or be too close and get hit by the door (especially people too busy talking on their cell phones)... most stores have this signage on both sides... I prefer Wegmans, Foodtown (Both Boro and Raintree) and Top Tomato, and sometimes the Rt9 Farmers Market..., I really hope for a Stop and Shop would open up here locally, there is one in Matawan and Howell and their prices can't be beat!! I used to shop at Pathmark, but I heard some anti-Semitic remarks while shopping there, and never went back, and now that store is closed !!! ( I am seeing "Subject sprawl"... this has nothing to do with Ballew retirement Ms. Moderator)

Fiber, I would LOVE a Whole Foods Market! Being in the natural products/natural-organic foods industry, I know there are hundreds of really awesome brands that only distribute to this specialty channel; you won't find them in typical mass supermarkets. If you were to attend the Natural Products Expo East behemoth tradeshow you would be so boggled. The food aisles which are numerous all have samples and you can pig out on this great stuff! (I know, I always did.)
Thanks to your mention of butchers, I am now craving pork chops.

Fiber, man, I owe you a big-time. I drove by that site today. Indeed, it is large enough to have two separate doors with a sign on each, denoting entrance/exit. In my mind, I only saw one door. I never paid that much attention until now. In my mind, I was envisioning one sign, one door, thinking it was smaller than what it was.
