This is an amazing story. A very large percentage of the time that CPR is used, the victim will not be revived on site. The 65-year-old man is recovering at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township and is expected to be released by the end of the week, Lt. Mark Wodell said. Around 11:20 a.m., Sgt. Craig Dispenza, and Patrolmen Rich Schwerthoffer and Nick Iozzi were sent to the lodge because the man had collapsed, police said. They administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation and used a defibrillator on the man, said Wodell. When the Freehold First Aid arrived, its members assisted officers with CPR, then borough and township police blocked intersections in town, so the ambulance could get to the hospital quickly, said Wodell. I had a family member die 2 weeks ago on vacation when the same thing happened -- my CPR and the effort of the emt's -- including the paddles -- were not successful. I might add, not only is he lucky -- but his family has no idea how lucky they are that they got him back. That's a great story -- and I am glad it ended well for that man and his family.
