Have a blast in Freehold at annual July 4 celebration
FREEHOLD — Coors Light in association with Downtown Freehold will present the annual evening of fireworks and entertainment at Freehold Raceway, Park Avenue (Route 33), on July 4.
Gates at the raceway will open at 5:30 p.m. and a concert of rock favorites will begin at 6 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Turnstyles, a classic rock-oriented group, and the Del Angels, a girl group performing early rock, pop, and rhythm and blues hits.
Families are encouraged to bring their blankets, relax, and enjoy food from five area vendors: A Little Bit of Cuba, Court Jester, Metropolitan Café, New England Hot Dogs and Dippin' Dots.
Dave Trotter will make a special appearance to perform "God Bless America" before the fireworks. The music will take a break for the pyrotechnic extravaganza at dusk and the concert will resume after the fireworks grand finale.
Admission and parking are free.
"We wanted to create a spectacular evening for the whole family that includes food from local restaurants and live music," said Rich Gatto, the CEO of Downtown Freehold.
"Downtown Freehold is committed to ensuring all annual events that people anticipate enjoying, such as the Fourth of July, are memorable and economical," he said.
