Have you ever wondered about the Masonic Lodge situated at 2 Dutch Lane Road in Freehold ? Why is it called a Masonic Temple ? What does the inside look like ? If so, you'll have the opportunity to see the Lodge and ask questions about Masonry on Saturday, April 25th when Olive Branch Lodge # 16 opens its doors for an Open House.
Between the hours of 11 AM - 1:30 PM, the Lodge doors will be open and members of the Lodge will be available to entertain questions. Bring a friend, look inside the Lodge, see what masonry is about and ask questions.
To be one, ask one.
A mason will never ask a co-worker, a friend, a neighbor or even a relative to join the fraternity, rather, it is believed that men of high character will be drawn to ask Masons about their affiliation based upon their conduct outside the lodge.
Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest men's fraternity. Thirteen signers of the Constitution and 14 U.S. presidents, including George Washington, Harry Truman and Gerald Ford, were Freemasons.
The origins go back to the guilds of stonemasons who built castles and cathedrals during the Middle Ages. In modern times, members don't learn a vocational trade, but the tools and objects used in stonemasonry have been adapted as symbols in the ceremonies of modern Freemasonry to teach moral lessons, brotherly love and charity.
There is a lot of bad information about Freemasonry floating around on the Internet; such as, Freemasonry is a secret religious society. At the open house you will find out that Freemasonry is not a secret society, but is a society with secrets and while believing in a supreme being, is not a religion.
So stop by on Saturday, April 25th (11 AM 1:30 PM), meet some of our members, have your questions answered and learn about Freemasonry. Light refreshments will be served. For more information contact Michael Caprio at either 732-551-4789 or via e-mail at masonguy53@yahoo.com.
Oh, by the way, their biggest secret is that Freemasonry makes good men, better !
