Here is a great article about the team that has made Freehold Borough proud for the last few years.

An era ended at F.B. in state final
Seniors who led Colonials to 10 titles played last games

The NJSIAA Group III state championship match between Freehold Borough and Ramapo was about more than a game. Win or lose, an era was ending on the College of New Jersey pitch in Ewing Township.
The seniors who had played such a huge part in the Colonials success of the last four years — Shannon Mayrose, Alexandra Eagle, Ashley Lewis, Jackie Scalgione, Alexa Rozzi and Angie Pantoja — were playing their final games in a Colonial uniform. Regardless of the outcomes, they had made the Colonial soccer team one of the finest in any sport that the Freehold Regional District has witnessed.
Their accomplishments alone are staggering. The Borough will have to expand the gym to make way for the 10 championships they've won, including the back-toback state titles, three Central Jersey crowns, four Shore Conference Division pennants and a Shore Conference Tournament win. Their record the last three years in a sport where the margin of error is so slim is 63-5-1. If you include their freshman season, they were 77-7-2.
They made an unprecedented three straight trips to the state final and are the only team, boy or girl, to win consecutive state titles. That, is quite a legacy, but what stands out about this group of Colonials was their commitment to each other and the way they played every game as if it were a championship.
Playing with heart and desire and never quitting are nice words, but these Colonials put them into action. It's the reason they never lost an overtime game the last four years. They broke many a team's heart in the extra session including Hopewell Valley in this year's state sectional final at the Borough when Paige Preston found the back of the net off a Mayrose cross.
Mayrose, the irresistible force up front for the Colonials, also pointed to the team's friendships with making the experience of playing for Freehold Borough so unique.
"We're all such good friends," said the VirginiaTech bound forward. "It breaks my heart having to leave them, but they'll be all right."
