It looks like the nice Italian place, Della Sol (?), has closed.
I also noticed that Jersey Freeze has a sign up saying they will be here for another year.

I was wondering about Jersey Freeze, I can handle another year.
While we're on the topic of restaurants. What's the deal with Mi Lindo Mexico? Open or closed?

The APP did have an article in the weekly community section that comes in the nail about Cornerstone and Della Sol. Will post it when found. It is an interesting read.

I just had the best dinner I've ever had at the new, Bayou Cafe on Main Street! The service was superb, the live jazz entertaining, and the food was to die for! I suggest EVERYONE try this restaurant! I had the BarBQue Shrimp appetizer, a cup of chicken vegetable soup, my entree was Crawfish Etouffee, and a slice of chocolate custard cake...EVERYTHING was fresh, delicious, and served with a smile! If you want to try something new, we have New Orleans here in our back yard!

Jersey Freeze site gets a reprieve By Kim Predham • FREEHOLD BUREAU • March 30, 2009 FREEHOLD — The Olive Garden chain no longer plans to replace the landmark Jersey Freeze with its own restaurant, an attorney involved with the matter has confirmed. "Olive Garden just elected not to proceed," said William Mehr of Freehold law firm Mehr, LaFrance and Williams. Fans of the well-known ice cream parlor and eatery were outraged at the news in 2007 that Jersey Freeze would give way to an Olive Garden and a bank. Die-hards mourned its impending loss, and several Internet communities sprang up calling for the restaurant's rescue. But over the winter, the deal ended for reasons that Mehr did not disclose. The Olive Garden chain is now considering property on Route 537 in Freehold Township. Jersey Freeze — at the intersection of Manalapan Avenue and Routes 9 and 33 — will be open for business this summer, Mehr said. The property is still available, Mehr said, but there are no definite plans for it. Jersey Freeze has been serving ice cream since it opened as a seasonal stand in 1952. Bruce Blackmore, the current owner, took over the business from his father in 1980. Blackmore, now 61, said in 2007 that he was motivated to leave the business because he and his wife wanted to retire. Rising costs, high overhead and shrinking profits were also factors, he said. Blackmore had said at the time that he would close the business in 2008, though he had also suggested that a group of his employees might continue the business elsewhere. Blackmore did not return calls for comment. The borough Zoning Board of Adjustment approved a variance in 2007 that would have allowed Chesapeake Companies Diversified Group LLC of Minnetonka, Minn., to build an Olive Garden restaurant on the borough side of the property, which straddles the boundary between Freehold and Freehold Township. The Jersey Freeze building, which sits on the township side, would have been torn down. Chesapeake, a commercial real estate investment and development firm, also had proposed building a bank on the property. That plan is off the table now, according to Chesapeake project manager Jeff Wurst. www.app.com/article/20090330/NEWS01/903300312/1004/NEWS01

I'm glad it's gonna stay open another summer! Their soft serve is outstanding--plus, Olive Garden is heinous.

While we are on this topic of updates, I heard recently that Milindo Mexico is closed and we are getting another Italian restaurant at that location.

While we are on this topic of updates, I heard recently that Milindo Mexico is closed and we are getting another Italian restaurant at that location. Every time I think Mi Lindo has shut its doors for good, I notice they are open again. That is a great place to go in the summer time. You sit out on the porch and BYOB. Mi Lindo's food was going for that "authentic" feel, but honestly, most of their menu was inedible, with the exceptions of the pork chops and the shrimp burrito.
