From the NT 7/06 Freehold Borough remains a great town for families Yes, Freehold Borough is experiencing higher taxes, overcrowded schools and overcrowded housing. However, we must not forget that Free-hold Borough is the county seat of Mon-mouth County, and albeit the unpleasantries, is still a great place to live. We need to take pride in our hometown and encourage families to move into our area. Freehold is a "family oriented" town with much more affordable housing than in some of the surrounding towns. I would also hope that our local [real estate agents] would "market" Freehold Borough as a great place to raise a family rather than as having lucrative rental property. So, Freehold Borough residents, it is up to you to save your hometown. newstranscript.gmnews.com/news/2006/0712/Letters/068.html

Again, there are many random acts of kindness both organized and and not so well organized happening every day throughout FB. From the "Welcome" basket of garden tomatoes my neighbor left on my porch when we first moved in, the Grocery Shopping spree a number of local moms did to help a family in morning over the unexpected loose of a 39 Year Young husband/farther, the spontaneous fund raising donation to help a family's medical expenses who experienced the sudden death of an 8 year old Girl last year, the local outreach and support for a former principal who lost a child way too soo last winter, the donations to the Teacher who lost everything in a house fire recently, the point is... Freehold Borough People have continual been looking out for each other...,take good care of each other in many, many ways and so many times here in FB! Many of us, just do not reported not speak, we just DO because it is "heart healthy", because in a lowbrow effort, we teach our children the real rewards of kindness and compassion to others in our community. There are number of mother (and grand mothers) who chose to devote time to help ESL students with their English language arts skills trough the Adult "Reading Buddies" because it benefits the child and our school system. I know neighbors who share each others gardening-landscaping and minor handyman house repair. Neighbors who share in watching each others children while mothers or fathers work late or 2nd jobs to earn a few extra bucks! There is so much good neighborly interaction happening around the Borough, through the efforts of a great many people, who do "stuff" not because they seek recognition, but because they simply chose to help others! It is our nature. There are a great many people who get it! that we all need to help "CARRY EACH OTHER" THAT IS WHY WE ARE A GREAT FAMILY COMMUNITY, though respect and sharing, through COMMUNITY spirited acts of social responsibility when ever and how ever we can, Borough People DO!! Here are a few words...,lyrics from a great song (few and far between now'a days)I feel is such a great inspirational message... Is it getting better Or do you feel the same Will it make it easier on you Now you got someone to blame....,
Were one But were not the same We get to carry each other Carry each other One..... If there is "Block Party" in support of Borough Pride, lets open it up for all the Borough to celebrate EVERY PERSON, every effort large and small, starting with all the selfless efforts on Center Street extended to all volunteers through out our community. We should calibrate Borough through a "Volunteer Fair " A day where ALL organization get to calibrate each other and our community! Lets close down Main Street allow each Organization to set up a table and recruit, whether its reading Buddy Programs, PTO's. Rotary, the ELks, the Scouts (boys, girls....), Memorial day Parade Committee, Freehold Education Foundation, etc....
Lets plan to celibate how we "CARRY EACH OTHER"!
Forget old Freehold Day, Call it the NEW Freehold Day.
