What a great first show of the concert series. There really is nothing like going down town on a nice summer evening and listening to some good old rock and roll. There was a very good crowd tonight, and very family oriented.

There was a very good crowd tonight, and very family oriented. I was a little put off by the comment (and voice inflection) made by "SPAZ", DEDICATING the LAST SONG of the night to Freehold Boro and the "many residents who were not there attending the concert"....and went on to perform "La Bamba"..., It was unnecessary, kinda tasteless and insulting..., to inference that people think of "LaBamba", when they think of Freehold Boro. as well as, earlier in the evening..., thanking the "Freehold Partners Committee Group Thing" (which was corrected a few moments later by thanking the "Freehold Center Partnership"). That aside it was well attended a fun evening was had by Boro residents and our Western Monmouth Neighbors.

Lighten up, we need a future council man with a sense of humor. I laughed at the jest. There is nothing wrong with laughing at ourselves. It is healthy! On a serious note, we are well known for our Mexicans and illegal immigrants. I speak with all kinds of people from all over the county. On some occasions, the discussion comes to Freehold and that is the first thing people think of. Some may not like, others may love it, but that is reality.

It sounds like you all had a great time. As I mentioned, this event was very family friendly. There were tons of kids having a blast. Actually, there was also plenty of of old geezers ( over forty ;D) having a good time too.

I know (of) Spaz, and that's definitely his sense of humour. I definitely don't think he meant it in a cutesy "welcoming" way, but also not a mean-spirited one either.

I was not faltered with what was implied. You want to be known as a fun downtown full of shops and restaurants, or to be know as where the "M"'s come to pick up their day labors and the conclave for their cheap domestic help? He could have reference a dedication though a MUCH more fitting dedication of our HOME through a Bruce song.... MUCH more fitting! This is our Home. You want to be know for "LaBama" and get laughed at? I'd prefer something much more appropriate, that is much more fitting like "Thunder Road" and say, yup THAT is a product of the borough, that is the truer reflection by way of a very FITTING dedication! Anyway, looks like anther sunny day out side!

I actually agree with you, Ted. I see your point.
At the same time, knowing how The Nerds are, it doesn't surprise me. Especially since the guys don't live in Freehold, they could care less about the jokes they make. For someone like you, who lives in the Boro, you notice the negativity of the joke moreso. Additionally, most people can open up their eyes and see that we have a large Latino population, so it's not exactly new news to anyone. Take it for what it's worth...

FYI: Wow, I have to get used to not saying "we" anymore. I'm 2,700 miles away. Well, when I say "we," I just mean it in that it's still my hometown, the same as Rich would say it, or anyone else...

Anyway, looks like anther sunny day out side! Well -- let's thank god they didn't use a few Bruce Songs: "Now Main Street's whitewashed windows and vacant stores Seems like there ain't nobody wants to come down here no more" or worse -- from Born to Run "Baby this town rips the bones from your back Its a death trap, its a suicide rap We gotta get out while were young `cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run" Actually -- sorry I missed the show. I loved the Nerds -- back in the day. Coincidentally, we are coming up this weekend for the first trip in some time -- if the show had been tonight -- we might have made it. (I first read this thread and thought it was tonight -- oh well)

For some reason "Born to Run" gets me all filled with NJ pride...even though it should make me feel the opposite...
