Well folks, it is a matter of time before the cat is let out of the bag, so I may as well mention it myself.
Your not always so humble administrator has been appointed to the HRC. Tonight was my first meeting and I can say it was quite interesting. I will not go into specifics due to the fact that I want to ensure that I do not engage in anything unethical, but I do want to take the time to address something of great concern to me. That is why I am writing this.
At the meeting tonight, the topic came up about several of our residents who have been robbed while walking our streets. There was a rep from the police department filling us in. There is not a common description of the people committing the crimes, but from what we were told, all of the victims are Latino.
I have concerns as the administrator of this web site. I know that all of our participants on this site are good people , but I want to reach out to those of you who are only reading.
I want to get the message out, loud and clear, that we do not advocate hatred or violence toward any human being. If anything, I know that I can speak for all of us that, we on the Freehold Voice, take a very strong stance against any such behavior. Any person who is reading this and would entertain hate or violence needs to find another place. This site is not for you.
Many of us, like most Americans, know that illegal immigration is wrong and a big problem. But, we must never forget the humane element involved, nor should we fail to have compassion for all of our fellow humans.
The Freehold Voice will NEVER incite or encourage hatred toward our fellow humans.
Related to this topic, of the robberies, the Human Relations Committee will be doing something about this in the near future. When I get the specifics, an announcement will be made here. Councilman Simms asked me to help out, and I will.
