Freehold mayor's stand on illegal immigration is commendable
Bravo, (Freehold Borough) Mayor Michael Wilson for your clarity of thought and your courage in calling illegal immigration what it truly is: a mass violation of our laws and a serious threat both to the rule of law and to America's sovereignty as a nation. What a spectacle for the world to see: illegal aliens demonstrating in our streets, attempting to intimidate the U.S. Senate and dictate the policies and laws that it should adopt.
The Mexican government has been providing their citizens with how-to pamphlets and survival kits to enable them to illegally enter our country. Mexican President Vincente Fox has been badgering our government to grant amnesty and liberalize our immigration laws. In the meantime, it is a felony to be in Mexico illegally and even legal immigrants have virtually no rights. They cannot engage in any political activities such as demonstrations and can be and often are removed from the country without due process.
The Heritage Foundation has estimated that if the Senate passed legislation becomes law, between 103 million to 200 million legal aliens will enter our country in the next 20 years. This will involve one of, if not, the largest mass movement of people in the history of the world. As Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) said, the senators are blissfully ignorant of the costs and impact this legislation will have on every aspect of American life.
It is truly to Mayor Wilson's credit that he is not among those blissfully ignorant senators who because of their support for open borders or their surrender to the cheap labor and cheap votes lobbies are selling out America. Once again, thank you, Mayor Wilson. Unfortunately, you are a rare breed today on our rather bleak political landscape.
