www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007710210484The Golden Eagles are seemingly indestructible. No. 3 Central Regional, undefeated at 17-0, is yet another step closer to possible Shore Conference Tournament greatness by defeating No. 11 Freehold Boro, 2-1. Flying into scoring position right off the bat at :55 in the first half, Jamie Mackenzie took an unassisted shot for Central after dodging Boro defenders in front of the box. Teammate Alyssa Mayo followed up at 22:47, scoring from the top of the circle after Shana Wood took the ball off a corner pass, and sent it over. Freehold Boro's Britney McCormack scored the Colonials lone offering at 26:31, unassisted. With only three shots on goal, Central truly capitalized when it was imperative, but perhaps most of the story of this game was told by goalie Katelyn Pepper, who faced the brunt of Boro's 11 shots on goal, saving nine threatening attempts. The stage is now set for a semifinal showdown tomorrow as Central, the only Ocean County team remaining in the tourney, plays No. 2 Shore Regional at 3 p.m.
