Man charged in melee near deli www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080108/NEWS01/801080337/1004FREEHOLD: A 35-year-old man has been charged with punching two adults in the face and threatening a boy with a box cutter, police said. David Battle, 35, of Freehold Township was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of simple assault and one count each of terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon and refusing to be fingerprinted. Around 6 p.m. Friday, police were called to Jackson Street because of a report of a fight near a deli parking lot, Lt. Mark Wodell said.When Patrolman Kevin Werner arrived, he found a large crowd outside and learned the dispute stemmed from a previous misunderstanding, police said. Police said Battle punched a 36-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man and threatened a 15-year-old boy with a box cutter. All three victims live in the borough, police said. Police took Battle into custody and found a box cutter in the grass, near the area where he had been standing, Wodell said. Battle was held Monday morning at the Monmouth County Jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of $48,500 bail
