Saturday night, friends of ours took us to Ferrara's Restaurant on Arnold Avvenue in Pt. Pleasant. The place doubles as "Uncle Vinnie's Comedy Club" on the weekends.
They had a nice special menu with 5 or 6 full course meals and the package deal included the show, which started at 10pm.
It's not a very large place, thinking that one of the Borough's restaurants could try the same thing. The place was definately sold out, too.
The show lasted about 2 hours with emcee, warm up act and main comedian, Johnny Rizzo. Rizzo is hysterical, by the way. He has a plastic face (think Conan - but wierder!) that lends itself to the humor. The warm up act, Steve Lazarus aka: The Yankee's "Beer Man" was also very good.
There is a comedy club at Freehold Gardens called Comedy Shoppe. I don't know how that one does, but a comedy club like the one in Point Pleasant in our downtown would be fun.
Maybe the American Hotel will consider the idea, when it opens.

This is an excellent idea that I think just about everyone can get behind. Not sure of the size of the spot down in Pt Pleasant, but I think either the American Hotel, or maybe the Main St. Bistro would be best suited - as far as the layout of their restaurants - to entertain (no pun intended) this idea.
This is the type of thing that one of the committees in town should pursue with the different restaurants.
If there's one thing we could certainly use in this town, it's some laughter...it'll loosen us all up a bit.
