Guess I was wrong about Simms. Again I want to congratulate Mr. Miller. he worked hard and basically alone. I hope he builds from this and a real opposition grows in Freehold. I guess, based on the election results, that the voters of Freehold think everything is fine. You get the government you deserve !!!

I guess Borough residents were not ready for Miller's message of Love and Acceptance.

Board of Chosen Freeholders 441/452 97.57% Under Votes 26958 Over Votes 0 Vote Count Percent Rep - Robert CLIFTON 58,954 25.28% Rep - Jeff CANTOR 58,648 25.15% Dem - John D'AMICO, Jr. 58,921 25.27% Dem - Stephen G. SCHUELER 56,507 24.23% Write-In 172 0.07% Total 233,202 100.00% The rumor floating around last night was that there are about 2,000 absentee ballots still to be counted...so the clean sweep may still occur. This was by far the closest race all night long, it went back and forth a few times, and the last I saw, the top 3 are only separated by 381 votes!!!(still today, they don't show that all of the districts reported their results) Certainly not impossible for the absentee ballots to make a serious play in this (if they indeed exist). In fact, further examining the county page, they show 7,064 absentee votes...so who knows what the real number may be. As for Ted, I congratulate him as well. He really did everything he could to cram several months of campaigning into a very short time. He worked tirelessly and won over a number of people who will now hopefully continue to be involved in our town. The important thing is to carry this start of momentum into next year...the numbers are certain to go up as the groundswell continues...and with any luck, we'll see 2 candidates up there running against the incumbents. Take a page from Jennifer Beck's campaign...she was way out-funded, and had the full force of the Trenton political machine against her, but through sheer hustle, a tireless work ethic, and just an overall ability to speak her mind and be open and honest, she overcame Senator Karcher, and I for one am confident that the 12th District is much better off because of it.
