REPUBLICANS:
Declan O'Scanlon and Caroline Casagrande want to make sure you didn't miss their Asbury Park Press endorsement. Jennifer Beck today called for denying public pensions to the officials convicted of accepting bribes in “Operation Bid Rig” and urged the Legislature to close the loophole in a law passed this year that would still permit public officials convicted of corruption to keep their pensions.
"Assemblywoman Jennifer Beck, R-Monmouth and Mercer, issued the following statement on the Corzine Administration’s written response to a lawsuit the two lawmakers filed in Mercer County Superior Court against the Corzine Administration to force the release of an $800,000 taxpayer-funded report that contains crucial information about what will happen when the Corzine administration and Democrat-controlled Legislature hike tolls as part of a plan to sell, lease, or monetize state highways: “It is unconscionable that critical public information, paid for with tax dollars, is being withheld from New Jersey’s citizens and legislators,” said Beck."
"Question of the day for Farmer Ellen: Senator Karcher, why havent you proposed a single cut to the State budget in your four years in office?"
DEMOCRATS:
Ellen Karcher's fourteenth installment of “Ask Jennifer Beck,” where each day between now and the November 6 election the campaign will ask one question of Jennifer Beck. Have you had any moving violations, accidents or warrants since the February, 2006 Star Ledger article that detailed your prior driving record?” Karcher also says that "Beck seems to be on both sides on whether she supports her campaign platform to cut state spending or not. According to her campaign website, Assemblywoman Jennifer Beck’s plan to cut state spending includes cutting $12 million in state funding from New Jersey After 3 – a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding and improving after-school opportunities for New Jersey children. But in a debate televised on News 12 this week, Beck claimed she did not support cutting funding for New Jersey After 3. When criticized by Senator Ellen Karcher for proposing the cut, Assemblywoman Beck replied “that is not one of the cuts that I’ve proposed.”
