I have tried to have an open mind to the candidates this year but I am at the point where I have to write Karcher off completely.
A couple of days ago I received a mailer from her campaign. Her new trick is to regulate the internet. I can not find the mailer and I had wanted to put it here word for word so that readers can be the judge.
It is classic deflection and the use of cheap issues to look good. The intentions of the internet regulation are " for the good of the children" type of mentality. This flier was one of those things that says a lot without ever really doing something. I consider this another one of Karchers cheap gimmicks to take the spotlight off of real issues. Senator Karcher has been a part of the party in power in Trenton for long enough. What has she really done to stand up to the terrible funding of our schools? Yes, we received a small amount this year, but the long term issues are not solved.
I recall her at the town hall meeting in March. Her recommendation was to have a bake sale. Sorry, but the goods would cost too much to raise what we need.
Our schools did the survey. The three biggest concerns our residents had were illegal immigration, unfunded mandates, and the lack of funding that we need.
What has Karcher done to help any of those issues? She gave us a trans fat ban.
Her best trick that really appalled me was when she went on a rabid and partisan attack at a Freeholders meeting. She made a very feeble attempt to lay responsibility at the feet of the Freeholders for funding our schools. How dare she come into the only county government in New Jersey with a AAA bond rating and tell them what to do! Karcher and her cronies from Trenton need to clean their own house first. Our problems come straight out of Trenton and she has done nothing!
Karcher has a good history, as mentioned above, of not dealing with the real problems. Instead we have seen a continues pattern of deflection and feel good legislation. That is a disgrace.
Karcher should have stood up to her colleagues in the Abbot districts. She has not and she needs to go. She has had her chance and has failed us.
It would be great to see her lose the very Democrat Freehold Borough. Our residents can not afford more of what she has offered.
If I can find that recent mailer I received, will post it here.
